Aim

This week I continued to work on timing and rhythm from character animation to camera movement in animated sequences for my IOL Project.

Method

TV Paint

Result

I created the first part of the fast-paced animated sequence, of the character opening his eyes and waving the Go stones towards his opponent. By playing with timing on different shots, I tried to create visual fluency between the shots.

Discussion

Starting from the roughs from Folio 1(shot 3), in which I created an ultra-decelerating(ease in) animation of the character, I tested and applied an ease-out camera movement of zooming out in the next shot, to create a more fluent rhythm visually. In addition, to enhance the contrast between camera movement and animation in shot 4, I used ease-in effect when animating the scale and rotation of the Go stone.

Improvement could be made by adding an accelerating animation of the characters’ cloak in shot 4, so the acceleration continues from the previous shot.
