Aim
Last week I focused on the timing and movement of the close-up shot of the hand and the fan, to create a more fluent rhythm that fits into a fast-paced scene.
Method
TV Paint
Result
As a result, I created this short animation using lines (the 2nd shot) in an animated sequence. By animating the full action of waving the fan, I slowed down the hand movement at the very beginning to match the deceleration in the previous shot.
Discussion
The shot fits in content well in terms of the overall flow of the scene, although it was a bit tricky to adjust the timing in this specific shot, because of the complicated movement of the hand within such a short period of time. Using the moment where the character’s hand changed direction as a turning point/ breakdown, accelerating the movement afterward was a good solution in terms of adding power to the action of fan folding at the end. The next step I’m going to take is to animate the next zoomed-out shot where there will be a quick settle down, as a small conclusion of the series of waving the fan.
