IOL Week 7 Metamorphosis
Aim
I’ve chosen the opposites of happy and sad (Option A).
Method
2D animated sequence in TV Paint
Result
I created a simple animated sequence of metamorphosis used between a sad boy and a happy girl. The background elements also indicate their emotions.
Discussion
Throughout the simple experiment, I found that the use of metamorphosis is kinda similar to the use of smear frame (which I would be referencing a lot in my project practise ), whereas metamorphosis is more often used to create a visual feeling of abstraction in the transaction between different objects, characters or scenes and smear frames are mainly used for quick actions from extreme to extreme of one single character.
In addition, since my studio project will be mainly exploring the story between two characters, metamorphosis might be used in scene transactions to show the relation between the characters, specifically when the characters from different scenes are in the position of similar camera angles ( Because I don’t want the result to be too abstract).
