IOL_week4_Sound
In response to the week4 theme, "Sound", I made a 3D loop animation with three different sound effects. It depicts a generator motivated by the buttered cat paradox that as the cat falls towards the ground, it will slow down and start to rotate, eventually reaching a steady state of hovering a short distance from the ground while rotating at high speed as both the buttered side of the toast and the cat's feet attempt to land on the ground. The sound is reflected visually as the sun sets and rises, and three rhythms make a symphony.
I placed the original 2D animatic version in the bottom left corner. I started making this clip with modelling based on my previous drawings. From a simple cube, the cat model gradually formed in shape by subdividing and sculpting. And I use Boolean, Arrays and Curves to create the box and the pipes. After the models were done, I proceeded to animate and do the lighting. The sun is the most exciting, which consists of the above two features. When the sun went out of sight, the light also turned off. I used an empty null to bind the object and the light together, which helps to visualise the sound. Overall this attempt allows me to investigate and experiment with the relationship between sound and the visual. Although the practice is not directly related to character animation, to highlight the project, it is worth developing.
