In response to the week3 theme, "Timing and Spacing", I produced three 2D short animated tests in Procreate. The first animation shows an opponent relationship between two characters, in which they take turns oppressing the other one. I tried to do a quick abstract transition between two keyframes. The process of making these three clips are similar, starting with producing keyframes. It isn’t too hard because I already have an approximate idea of the content. Drawing in-betweens is much harder, which requires perspective or shape changing. Furthermore, the second one portrays a mother’s love for a child. Starting with tears dropping, the child is finally held by the mother who showed up from the tree. And lastly, the third animation is more colourful. It depicts the green dog turning into an alien, which surprises the fox. Although the fox's movements are subtle, I tried to make the image come alive rather than staying still.
The plots are based on the 2D layout I made before as well, describing the dog’s fantasy imagination when falling into the wormhole. The experience is very different from reality, so I reckon it would be nice to put it into 2D style, despite the primary 3D production. Also, adding some 2D effects can enhance the refinement of the picture and refresh the viewing experience.
