Guest Lecture Week 5

Guest speaker Uyen (Ooo-in) Nguyen discussed the winding journey that led her to present for the 2019 Digital Games Research Association, mentioning her jumps from illustration to crafts, to stop motion, to 2D animation, to 3D animation, to interactivity design.

Nguyen's "YOMECI" (You, Me & the City) short series playfully recontextualised audio clips from around the Melbourne CBD with delightful animations, and eventually lead to an interactive edition in the form of YomeciLand, which will be presented at Bunji Place in September.

A point of interest was Nguyen's approach to animation narrative, which seeks to imitate that of picture storybooks, referencing her time at the Ton Tau Creative Hub. She also believes that you should always try to do everything wholeheartedly!
