The task for week 1 was to take an idea from one aspect of my own practice, and generate a piece of work to respond.
I decided to reflect upon the importance of acting for animated practice, and the study of emotion that is inherent in the acting process. To exemplify this, I produced a very short emotion study in pencil.
This task gave me new insight into the nuances of human emotion, and sparked thoughts about new ways to investigate the acting process in more depth. I briefly considered motion capture technology, and from there branched off into emerging VR technology which captures emotion directly using biosignals. To follow this up, I will investigate in 3D emotion studies and more complex facial rigging, to see how physical input from VR may align here.
