This is a 2D animation made by Disney in 1995, this one is different from other animation with happy endings and more suitable for adults to watch.
It tells a love story between a Indian princesses name Pocahontas and a white explorer during the North American colonial era, which based on a true history.
One of the highlight is that a talking tree which is called Grandmother Willow makes the whole story full of mystery, whether Pocahontas can be psychic, can really talk to this tree(this is in line with her identity), or this is just a way of expressing her inner thoughts, it creates a mysterious atmosphere, and her inner world is directly showed to the audience in a poetical way.
Disney is very good at using nature to tell stories. The interaction between animals and the protagonist with accompany will immidiately make the audience feel close and create a dreamland.
The first man Pocahontas met expressed her curiosity and helps with her growth, what is a little unreasonable is that when they first met, Pocahontas suddenly learnt how to speak a language she had never heard before, but it can come down to magic either.
With the sublimation of their feelings, the contradictions among nations have also intensified, it is mainly the villain who promotes the development of the plot, causing the conflicts further.
The tribe who was engaged to Pocahontas tried to kill the man but was killed instead, instatly intensifying the conflict and bringing the plot to a climax. The most famous scene is that Pocahontas stands up to protect her lover when he is about to be executed, which resolves the conflict between the two parties.
This animation is full of colours with special character design style. What is worth learning is Disney's use of music and depiction fo showing character's inner world outside and making the character image more specific.
