I've started exploring fight scenes in anime and animated media this week. The biggest challenge that I've encountered so far is readjusting back to Adobe Animate after having used only Procreate for the last 2 weeks.
The growing pains of immediately diving straight back in didn't last too long luckily. The biggest difficulty was trying to understand how to effectively construct a short animation and work out what everything in the timeline did.
What slowed my process in animating down the most was my lack of direction in what i was creating. Previously, I've had a clear idea that I can map out and create. I worked out pretty quickly how to use the 5 frame intervals to differentiate between Keyframes, which indicate major change in action, and regular frames.
The storyboard that I drew up is a response to this learning experience. I plan to take this storyboard and flesh it out into a smoother animation in Animate. In this handdrawn sketch, I have made use of animation principles such as Exaggeration (exaggerating scale to convey perspective in space) and Follow Through/Overlapping Action (used through motion smears and scaling up the subject.)
