Context

Ignas Meilunas, MR NIGHT HAS A DAY OFF-short film

This is an animation about the shift between day and night. The main character is night and everything it touched will become dark. This animation is very interesting, Ignas use a monster image to represent night, that is very generous because it presents time passing through tough. What’s more, he merges 2d animation into live recording which causes the illusion that the character really exists. From this animation, I am really interested in combining 2 worlds, which can create a dramatic scene for the story.

Method

I’ll search for pictures online and use photoshop to draw the illustration for the picture. Then I ‘ll use after effect to make an animation to combine 2 worlds.

Response

It is interesting to make the illustration with watercolor brushes, but I think the contrast is not strong enough. When I finish the animation, I found the human animation moves too fast and it is hard to figure out what’s going on.
