In response to the theme of Tinkering, I created a short stop-motion clip with a piece of paper and an Akabeko figure. In the clip, Akabeko interacts with the paper and making some noises along the way. By playing with paper, I noticed that the different shapes and the sounds being generated during the process are interesting elements to put together for some intriguing narrative. I added Akabeko figure to experiment interacting with the two elements. Similar work has been produce in by Carlton Kutz in a stop-motion clip, Paper House. In the story, a main house looks different from all the other houses. The clip shows the relationship and contrast between the main house and the rest of the houses with stop-motion. The other similar work is The Dancing Nature by Alexandre MAISTRET. The stop-motion is created with rice. The clip starts out with the rice falling sound mimicking the rain. The rice was used to draw up into different objects and scenery.
