Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

In response to the theme of "time", I created a 2D animation in Procreate that shows how time changes as the protagonist experiences accelerated cruise.

By creating this clip of animation, I examine the idea of Capture Time, Fictive Time and Varying Time. The protagonist in the film encounters acceleration when he is cruising near the wormhole, therefore there are changes in speed and gravity field, abstraction and chaos in the relative change of somatosensory time. It was slow and relaxed at first, but with acceleration, you can see that the playback speed of the image becomes faster, and finally it shows the phenomenon of afterimage and redshift. The speed of the playback is controlled by me for dramatic tension, which examines the idea of Fictive Time and Varying Time.

Similar work has been produced by Rory Byrne, in his work “An island”. There are an amazing clip of acceleration time between 8:45-10:00. The creator uses montage and time manipulation to achieve wonderful 2D animation performance. And in “Pain Pain Fly Away” by Puty, there are also many animation clips that show the effect of speeding up or slowing down time. Which is also a good application of the twelve laws of animation, mainly "Slow in and slow out" and "Follow through and overlapping action".
