(Sry, didn't hv time to edit the footages properly)

In response to the theme of found object, I produced an audio-reactive projection mapping using Touchdesigner on a painting at home. It’s bizarre that I have been living in this place for a while but I haven’t really observed it. I wonder if there is anything I could sort of communicate/ play around with it. I came up with the idea to help the circles/ content in the frame break out from the frame.

By applying simple interaction and projection mapping I showed that these ambience and contextual changes the whole vibe and way to perceive an object could be totally different. The painting in set is now something the respond to the surrounding, I could imagine if I apply different detection, e.g. motion sensor, and different simulation (e.g. growing hair from the painting?). These tiny augmentation alters my perception to an ordinary object.

Similar work has been produced by teamLab, whose work “A Window to the Universe where Little People Live” explores this theme by augmenting object in real world by projection mapping. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZKY_a_WVAQ, teamLab, 2022) This work allows audience to draw on wall using gesture and these strokes will interact with the things in the virtual world. The whole experience only takes up a wall, but this wall becomes something interactable and responding to audience. And it become the oridinary wall again once the installation or light is off. I love this magic of interactive installation.
