This week in response to the theme of constraints, I produced a series of animated pixel artworks using Pixaki on the iPad.
-Each sprite must be 32x32
-No More than 4 unique frames
-Each sprite can use a maximum of 4 colours (I'm going to use the same colours for each one)
-No pixel can touch another pixel of the same colour as itself
-I only can't work on it for more than 10 minutes
However I found it difficult to work with the 'no pixel can touch another pixel of the same colour as itself' rule using only four colours so I decided to remove this constraint for the second and third piece; the seahorse and the ocean scene.
I wanted to see if I could emulate old video game graphics and their ability to express movement and detail despite working with limited colours and pixels.
