In response to the theme of Forces and Constraints, I made a system in Unity that follows certain rules to create randomly generated objects in a 10x10 space. The rules that the system is only allowed to work within are:
By working within these rules to produce many results generated by the system, I showed that by working within a couple of rules, one can generate a variety of different results and patterns, as can be seen in the renders above. Not one render is the same, even when the rules they are working with is constant. Similar work has been produced by Frieder Nake, whose works with Computer Art explore this theme of rules and constraints. He works with systems to create art and his artworks show the constraints and rules that come from both the artist and the computer system.
