In response to this week’s theme of time, I made an interactive piece in Unity where a user can control and manipulate time using a combination of buttons. I used directional lights in Unity to show the sun and the moonlight, and a few scripts to show the passage of time, through a day-night cycle. By using a day-night cycle, I was able to show a transition in time in this piece. And by letting the user manipulate time, I was able to make them a part of the experience. A similar theme is present in the game ‘Superhot’, produced by the SUPERHOT team, which was mentioned during the class. In this game, the player gets to control time. When the player moves, time moves forward and when the player stops moving, time freezes. This game gives the player complete control over time, which is where I got the idea for my interactive piece.
