Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

In response to the theme of Time, I produced a series of clips and artworks. Utilising a timelapse, I created an animation of the pattern as it was drawn. By using a timelapse to animate the drawing of the pattern, I showed how you can use the captured time to create an animation. I initially had an idea to create a blooming flower. Using the radial symmetry tool to achieve this, and as I drew from the centre to the outside of the canvas, the timelapse would imitate the flower blooming. I tested out different versions, such as using linework or painting thicker brush strokes, and testing out different colours and patterns. The final works show three different iterations of the time-lapses created and the final art.

Similar work has been produced by Reddit, where they showed a timelapse of the r/place online canvas as it developed over the four days. The video explores the theme of time, by showing the progression of the canvas over time. As the canvas was a static image, you could only see one version of it at a time, but through the use of a timelapse, you can see how some parts of the canvas become animated. With each change, small characters seem to be moving or the whole canvas looks like a black hole or meteorite is consuming it. Without capturing a timelapse, these scenes might not even be seen or noticed without constantly checking on the canvas.
