Explore with place, make with place
I will create 2D animation elements to go over a live action plate where I can communicate a relationship between an animated character and their location.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Robert Zemeckis, 1988) is a film that successfully blends live action photography and 2D animation in a way that is believable to the audience. I like how this film makes the 2D elements feel believable in the real world and I would like to explore that.
I created a short piece where a stick figure character walks into a cardboard tube and lies down to relax. A human hand comes in and rolls the tube around, and the animated character reacts to this situation. I animated using the puppet tool in After Effects.
If I had more time I would like to work on creating a better walk in to the tube, and add furniture into the tube as well. As a proof of concept though I am very happy with the result.
