In response to the theme of Discussions of Place, I made a dumpling store and an aggressive chef using Blender, Zbrush, Affinity Designer & Makehuman. By making the chef this way, I showed that the environment and character are interwoven. Some examples of this are: steamed dumplings are hot, which is a metaphor for aggressive and thus the chef appears violent, and the clothing of the character is the same colour of the dumpling itself. Similar work has been produced by Nick Carver ( https://www.artstation.com/artwork/gGbDZ ), whose work “Overwatch – Misc” explores this theme by creating a very cool Asian inspired squid restaurant by using a lot of symbolism and elements of culture.
