In response to this week’s theme Discussion of Place, I made a video to describe a place where things can be healed back to original state by turning back time. I used Final Cut Pro X for slow motion, VFX; Premiere Pro for sound and video composition.
The place takes resemblance of the exact reality, with electricity emission while slowing down time; and the entry is seamless, with wavy spreading and space distortion. The blue colour filter means both lightning and frozen time. The emitted lightning focuses on the wound or the crisis and strikes it until the place turns back time.
By demonstrating the process of reversing time, I want to highlight people’s hope for the second chance and the visual prospect of the technology discovery. People imagination is limitless, it also questions people’s further decision after they think that they made a mistake and where people will put these technology to use. It’s a rebellious thought that things don’t seem way we see through our eyes.
Similar work has been produced by Zack Snyder’s Justice League, where The Flash reverses time by entering a dimension called Speed Force. I also get the inspiration from the surrealism painting The Persistence of Memory by Dali, where properties of all objects are modified by the artist’s will.
