Theme
Tinkering as Method
Method
Using Blender, I will attempt to explore different features of the software to create a scene.
Context
For this activity I researched the history of Western painting and the importance of accurate rendering of light and shadow as well as its dominance in artworks as a fundamental. I also looked at the Light and Space Movement in the '60s and the '70s.

Response
The process of tinkering allows me to explore with no limitations or direction in a very fast manner, then finding the common trends in my ideas which leads me to find where my interest lays, so I can direct it and further explore it. Moreover, researching the Western painting and understanding accurate rendering of light and shadow as well as looking at James Turrell’s light panels made me want to combine both ideas and since the theme of this week is to tinker I was interested to see the opportunities that arise through the process.
By doing this exercise and using a software that is fairly new to me, I explored the possibilities and things that can be done to the physics of objects as well as light and texture in the program. I decided to make a light-emitting box instead of using Blender light sources. Going forward I would like to explore the program capabilities even further, I would also like to change the light position and the quality of the render in the future.
