In response to the theme of found objects, I produced a 3D animated work of a hairclip using Blender’s modelling tools and grease pencil tool.
Using a low-poly model of the object, I was able to incorporate it in a different way than how it would be usually used. Using the enclosed nature of the hairclip, I created a scene based on the shape which looked like a bridge or a walkway. With the grease pencil tool, I added details to inhabit the small world made by the hairclip such as people and background. Blender’s 3D nature was useful for this work as it allowed me to draw in different places and depths on the clip.
Similar work has been produced by Tatsuya Tanaka who creates worlds utilising everyday objects as the world in his miniatures. He explores the theme of found objects by incorporating the objects in a unique way and interpreting how they can be used by the miniature people.
