CPS Week 2 - Tinkering (creatures)

Tinkering with strange creature designs.

In response to the theme of Tinkering, I made a series of experimental fantasy creatures using Photoshop.

I firstly randomly generated some animals, and used those as a influence to form a basic sketch. These creatures then serve as the basis to form my designs in the second iteration, by combining interesting shapes and features from sketches produced in the first step. By this process, I am loose and experimental with my work and not conformed to creatures that I regularly draw. The first step allows me to discover directions to take my work, second step allows me to refine my work and take the designs in areas that I deemed interesting.

Similar work has been produced by Shaun Tan, whose work is famous for his strange and peculiar creature illustrations.
