In response to the theme of discussion of place. I made a scene in the form of Traditional Chinese painting.
In Chinese traditional philosophy, the relationship of Place(external environment)and human themselves is a eternal topic. So I naturally thought of an opinion by Wang Yangming (an ancient Chinese philosopher). According to his theory, the external environment is actually the projection of our hearts. Only when we feel the external environment with our hearts, can places be connected with us.The artistic embodiment of this thought is Chinese Literati painting. They have no perspective relationship, but focus on the expression of what Literati see by their hearts. So I remove unwanted objects and use a lot of white space in my first scene, only remain what I felt in a Chinese ancient poem.
In the second scene, I explored about a boat in a 2D environment sailed to the edge of the 3D world.I got some inspiration from an animated short film Plato(by Léonard Cohen)This is a creative short film about a 2D character breaking into the 3D world. Through the title,I believe that the author wants to tell the difference between the philosophical world and the real world( just like 2D&3D world)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iC9icYmZfI
