Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Theme: Force

Method: Pull three student-created rules out of a hat, then use these rules to create an environment in a new and interesting way.

Context: Minecraft and photo collages; two very quick ways of building environments without actually having to draw.

Response:

The prompts I pulled for this assignment were:

  1. Use only black and white
  2. Use only cubes
  3. Use only images from the internet as a source

Googling pictures of cubes didn't seem like it would be all that fun or relevant to my practice, so I decided to get a bit creative. First I created a quick scene in minecraft, then traced over it and used stock images to create a mood.

Can't say I'm entirely happy with the result, but as with my week 2 experiment it strikes me as a very quick and easy way to test out aesthetics and colour pallettes. It could have more use in my practice, when I'm planning out complicated drawings.
