This week's theme is about constraints, set rules to follow, for example, using limited resources, limited time. Those rules and constraints actually simulate creativity in many fields in many years.
Responding to that, I decided to work with one of the plug-in software called grasshopper within rhino. One of my past projects explored how parameters can influence the outcomes by using grasshopper, this time I am using a similar concept, set parameters to let the component grow by itself, and record those outcomes as prototypes. The rule I set for grasshopper:
1, Next component should connect with the last one. (physical connection)
2, Each group repeats the action 19 times. (scale)
3, Each time using different parameters (parameters including different faces and points
to connect)
4, There are three objects which are cubic, sphere, and plane as basic components.
After the software-generated outcomes, the rule for me is that using those outcomes to build a new object. So basically, I need to create my own ‘component block’ first, then use them to build something, it is my ‘Minecraft’.
