Method

I made an abstract image and used it to make a short video to create a psychedelic feeling in AE, to see where it will go.

Here is what I made: https://youtu.be/qTq2PPUDrcI

Context

Rules:

1. You can only use GEOMETRIC SHAPES

2. Only BLACK & WHITE

3. PSYCHEDELIC PALETTE

And of course, related to the studio work.

I started with the psychedelic palette, and it reminded me of the Oscar Janigar Experiment I saw before, about an artist drew several pictures after taking LSD.

And during searching this psychedelic related things, I found out that there is this art form, the psychedelic art, which is pretty good, so I did some research on these works, and to see how high can we get?

Then I kinda need to use geometric shapes to express the feeling, the taste, so I thought of some of the Picasso's works, so I searched some of his works to learn his composition theory as a reference.

Finally the black and white, I don't know if gray is cheating, so I use a few dots and lines to create a visual 'grey', and by doing that, I think of Pop Art, Roy Lichtenstein's works, so I observed, analyzed, and referenced some of his works. And speaking of Pop Art, Andy Warhol of course, and there was a video about him was shown in the class, but most of his works are related to colors, so did not help much for my case.

Response

After making these related works, I started to think I could probably use this motion image to create a brush in my AR project, a hangover-lost color sensitivity brush perhaps? Or reversely, to create an experience of becoming awake or sober by using an eraser to clean these things around as background.
