I struggled this week in CPS with trying not to anthropomorphise objects, because instinctively that is the first thing that I do.
I starte by mindmapping, firstly looking at conceptualising and analysing how we impose meaning and purpose onto objects. I was interested in the idea for instance of mythology and superstition, and how humans expect for example that breaking a mirror may cause 7 years bad luck - what say does the mirror get in this?
Then I started mindmapping different objects, looking for their humanised purpose and then conceptualising how i could play around with these ideas. I thought of burying a shovel in a grave, of putting a laundry basket on a turtle shell, and then I found a toothbrush holder in the bathroom.
I decided to animate a timelapse of decay and mould growing on the toothbrush holder, thinking of what would happen if a toothbrush is neglected from its original purpose of cleaning and left to rot.
