The CPS Theme Park Explorer is a point-and-click, interactive reflective archive of the objects I created as part of Character, Place and Simulation in Semester One, 2019.
An emergent theme that I've become aware of from doing the weekly exercises is around play; the act of making each week, both in the digital and physical spaces, allowed me to have fun and reminded me much of my childhood. I wanted to pay tribute to this by creating an interactive resource reminiscent of the multimedia CD-ROMs I used to play as a kid back in the 90s, like the Walt Disney World Explorer, Microsoft Encara 96, and DK's My First Amazing World Explorer. By setting these objects in a theme park map, I wanted to transform my weekly objects into playful "rides" that I could revisit any time.
I originally wanted to add more theme park rides to the map, but ran out of time. :( In hindsight, this worked out better as adding more objects might've made the map more cluttered, and the actual CPS objects won't be able to stand out.
There is also a Hidden Bearnards mini-game heavily inspired by the Hidden Mickey game in Walt Disney World Explorer. Can you find all twenty hidden Bearnards?
