Context
In response to the theme Play+Stillness, I have designed a game for my niece that requires [always thinking].
Method
1. small objects or toys with different tactile sensations and shapes, such as wooden circles, small cars, small spoons, etc.
2. tissue paper tape, small baskets
Preparation.
Fix the small objects on the wall/table in advance with tissue paper tape
How to play.
3. demonstrate how to remove the tape by hand, remove the toys and place them in the basket
4. Invite children to tear the tape and remove the small objects/toys
Objective.
5. to help children develop fine hand movements, hand-eye coordination
6. to promote the child’s ability to work with both hands in unison
7. to help the child improve concentration
I was inspired by Maurizio Cattelan’s Comedian, a banana stuck to the wall with strong adhesive tape. “If no one buys it, it is nothing; the fact that ‘someone buys it’ also makes this work. In the same way, a toy stuck to a table has no meaning, but from the moment a child wants to hold it, everything has meaning.
Reflection
I have learnt a lot during this week’s exercise that stillness and movement are relative and that it is up to the observer to decide whether a still object has meaning or not, but when the observer is moving, is the stillness still still still. This is a very interesting thing.
