APD WEEK1 TIME&SELF

Theme： In Response to the Theme of Play and Self, I made a designer toy character design. Self-portraits are a common way to describe oneself. In the era of rapid development of 3D technology, I want to make a Designer Toy of my own. I made a mind map of what I hated and what I liked from my own preferences. I found inspiration from the perspective of flowers on my favorite list. Finally, I decided to make a Designer Toy that combines Chinese style and flower elements.

Method： First I pick some flowers that I like and have special meaning in Chinese history. Such as： Lotus flowers: Lotus flowers grow in ponds and soil. It grows in bad and dirty conditions, but after flowering it is very clean. In China, this can describe a person who has very high character and is not affected by bad birth circumstances. Plum blossom: The flower season of plum blossom is the cold winter. Its meaning is indomitable national integrity. Then I chose Lotus and used PS for character design.

Context Similar works can be found in INFINITY STUDIO. One of their designer toy combines elements of Chinese porcelain to create a collection of handpieces for the museum. Porcelain is also used as the material. The most popular material is plastic. The material of porcelain combined with the design of porcelain is very special. So inspired me to do a Chinese wind and flower elements combined with the tide play. I also want to be able to use different materials.

Reflection ：Following this I want to complete a whole series (about 4 dolls) and model it. When I was designing Lotus, I always thought, don't just change the character's costume. I hope she looks like a lotus flower. So the choice of color changed to the natural color of the flower, not the natural color of the human.
