Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Context
In response to the theme Play + Abstraction, I worked with my niece on an abstract painting from Pollock. It made it clear to her that she is a master of art herself.

Method
Prepare a cardboard box with some glass balls and a lot of paint, dip the glass balls in the paint, place them in the box and let them roll around until the child wants to stop. The result is an abstract painting by Pollock, although she thinks it looks like an underground map.

I was also inspired by the work of Pollock, who developed one of the most radical abstract styles in the history of modern art, separating line from colour and redefining the kind of painting. He also found new ways of describing space.

Reflection
During this week’s exercise I have been thinking about how to express the abstract and unconscious in an entertaining way. After a series of reflections, it occurred to me that children’s imaginations are limitless and that they have their own ideas without having to think about colour schemes or anything else, and that they may create interesting works in the process. After this, it became clear to me that there is a difference between guiding children to discover themselves and telling them directly and that it is better for them to become better versions of themselves.
