Theme
In response to this week's theme, Play and Abstraction. I made a 2D abstract animation with some changes and movements between patterns to express the rhythm of the background music.
Context
Lu Shufang (2016) said: "Abstract animation mainly expresses abstract and condensed visual images, and stimulates the audience through expressions such as changes in the rhythm of the picture."Abstract animation, to me, is all about the creator telling the story and the music with something that the audience can't understand. "Abstraction is too often simplistically referred to as visual abstraction or distortion of actually clearly referent or recognisable images. "(Paul Fletcher). I made a two-dimensional abstract animation, using the changes between the patterns to express the rhythm of the music.
Method
Photoshop
I use graphic changes such as the bouncing of small triangles, fireworks, and the smearing of lines to express the rhythm of the music. I chose the song "bad guy" because it has a powerful sense of rhythm and is suitable for abstract animation.
Reflection
Due to my limited ability, I can only express the music rhythm through some simple graphic changes so that the audience can understand the meaning of these visual changes. Because in this piece of music, many places are repeated, so I have a lot of graphic changes that are repeated. Only at the end do the visual changes accelerate with the faster music rhythm. The experiment with abstract animation is exciting. This was also the first time I had background music and then drew spirit in animation production. In previous creations, I always took pictures and then made music.
