Play and Time
Method
I created a simple walk cycle loop which I then used it to sync it to the music.

Pieces of work that syncs media with the beat of the music
Response
I decided to use the theme of Time in a way where it is controlled by the maker (me) to create a synchronization piece around a time specific event. In this case it was the Wii music. I was heavily inspired by the two works mentioned above where they managed to sync the beat of the music to the events and action occuring on screen. The two pieces also utilized the idea of using a simple looped animation but altering it in a way where it created something new. My keywords for this week for APD revolved around ‘Innovation’ and ‘Making’. This was definitely a new experience for me in terms of trying to create a simple synced animation. Usually, I would have my animation created first, and THEN add in the sound effects later (this is the method I'm using for my Major project). However for this exercise, I had to create a piece revolving around the music. My loop cycle of choice was a simple walk cycle. To then make the walk cycle unique, I stretched the character to the beat of the simple Wii music. Finally to add in more diversity, I also messed with the scale of the character, did some tweening, and tinkered with the canvas to play around the beat of the music more.
There is an idea of interactivity and play when it comes to tackling the animation this way as the animation and music works upon one another to create this back and forth discussion. My current major project doesn't offer the same form of play as the animation is created first and the music is added later. This exercise gives me a new way of looking into ways of making my piece more innovating.
