Play and body
This week theme, my first idea was to create a interactive experience that resembles the game twisters. When I was brainstorming the idea more, I find that there were a few cons surrounding the area. 1)need space 2)multiplayer mode not allow.
Following that, I found about drawing with motion while I was researching for my studio 2 project. The idea was to track drawings using body movements and I was hoping to explore this idea deeper.
I was highly inspired by the effects/feedbacks of light paintings in this project. One of the artist that inpired me was the light graffiti artist Sola. His works is surrounded with the idea where he would hold on a light pole, move around the photos with his body to create stunning light graffittis/drawings.
The first prototype was done in unity where it uses body tracking. It was done where it would track the legs and hands of the users to form a drawing. However, when I was building the app, I found that android devices does not support body tracking so the idea was dropped.
Then, I look into my last weeks project where I implemented motion sensing. I decided to take the motion sensing feature a bit further and created and interactive piece where the user would able to make a drawing and record the process of it. It was inspiring to for a work to created just through body movements and the help of light.
Looking at it, I went straight into the making of the project without fully considering about the scope of the features. There were times where I should have research the shortcomings of the appications beforehand. I certainly would go back to creating the first prototype after if in the future, body tracking would be available for android devices
