In response to this week's theme, I wanted to create a space gallery about memories, based on the nature of sound as a way to convey information. In the gallery, players can explore through sound and learn about the whole story line. In order to more graphically represent the strong connection between sound and things, no dialogue will be included when the sound is played.
The whole space is both a showroom and a large game scene, where touching different objects makes different sounds and also triggers different events.
In addition to the public spaces, there are several smaller rooms, such as bedrooms, kitchens, classrooms, cars, etc. Sound effects with stereo sound will be played when the player enters in a specific space. Making it more immersive to the story. Also in the main room there will be a huge clock with different sounds playing in each room at different times of the day (representing the protagonist at different ages) It is as if the player is spending his life in the game with a transparent NPC.
For example, in the morning you can hear him brushing his teeth and flushing the toilet in the toilet scene, and in the evening you might hear him watching TV and playing video games in the living room, which we call events sound.
To increase the playability and exploration of the play space. I will set up key message sounds in some sections.
For example.
1. intensive coughing sounds to suggest a physical condition
2. sudden stops to catch your breath during a run
3. the sound of a sighing bedside
4. the sound of breaking objects, suggesting a parental quarrel
5. Slower and slower footsteps
By adding more detail to the sounds, the player constantly has new information to pick up.
I was inspired by the game 'unheard'. 'Unheared' is a sound puzzle game. In this game, there is a technology that can collect sounds from crime scenes. At the scene of the crime, players can track everyone's actions with voice, identify the names of each character from the dialogue, and find out the truth of the case.
Also on table games shops, a good audition experience is something that the shop owner needs to focus on. I understand that many of the newer table games shops have been decorated with sound built directly into the room. This gives the players a greater sense of immersion. For example, the walls are used a curved structure, using sound-absorbing materials, with diffusion on the walls, so as to create a better experience.
