Objects and Play

Context:

The link below is an article that talks about how a scientist created a metal that's hydrophobic and  shows how the water bounces. They used laser later on to create hydrophobic materials/

It's pretty interesting to see an object like metal have a quality like that. This relates to my studio project. The past few weeks I have been learning how to use the high definition render pipeline in unity. There's a shader that comes with metallic and smoothness. I tested out the metal quality and it's very realistic since it reflects everything in the surroundings. You can even play with the smoothness and metallic value to change the amount of reflection of the material.

Method:

Out of the tests I created for my studio project for a metal shader texture. I will play around in Maya and try to create a different quality for it. I will create a slimy watery texture for the metal which is very opposite. I will play around with pressure and cloth dynamics of the object.

Response:

I am happy with the response as I was able to achieve what I wanted the metal to look like.

Reflection:

This is related to play since as viewers we don't expect such a slimy quality from a metal ball. I will experiment and play around with the look and feel of an object.
