Play and Force

Context

Inspired by the interactive device Makey Makey and the balance ball game on the mobile phone. The game used the gravity sensor of the smartphone, players can control the ball on the screen by leaning the phone. The gyroscope brings real-world gravity into the virtual space and so as Makey Makey which brings more possible behaviours in the interaction.

Method

I choose unity remote to make my mobile phone an input device. Recorded the characteristic value of gyroscope when smashing my mobile phone on the desk as an input action. 

Response

It's interesting that bring in the real-world force into the screen. The Unity remote API is easy to learn. By using the Unity remote there can be more actions on the mobile phone to interact with the virtual space. The experience is very satisfying when our intuitive behaviour like shaking, opening or grabbing things can be responded in the screen which brings more direct impact to the user than keyboard or mouse.
