A 2D golf game which need you punch your mouse
Theme: Play & Force
Context:
I think exploring the how force could be a way of inputting is very useful and interesting. My first concept was fully digital work. I tried to make a game that player can control the liquid in game. Player can add force to the liquid and use liquid to trigger something, push something or open something. While the free asset of liquid isn’t good enough and I have to give up that project.
Then I started exploring how “Real world” things can influence the “Digital game”.
What I focused was “How real force can be passed into game”. One of the examples is the stick of controller. Fully push the stick will cause the character running and lightly push the stick will cause the character walking. I want to do some similar and then I made this golf game.
Method:
Unity and Mouse
Response:
I think the distance is a good way to calculate force in real world. Stronger power will cause the object moves more further like the stick. So I record the position of mouse and check its position after few moments. Calculate the delta distance and transfer it to force. So that our force can be passed into game by hitting mouse.
Reflection:
It is great experience to exploring how to relate real world and digital world.
I have made lots of thinking on this but limited by resources and tools, I chose the mouse.
I also considered about using camera, color and light to control the force but very sad I don’t have camera. But those ideas already in my brain and I will try if I have chance.
The “PLAY” of this project is related bot the physical play and digital game. Interact with real things to control digital object.
