APD_week 4: play and place

In response to this week’s theme, I make a mini landscape box. Through this work, I want find back  and building the relationship between me and the place where I live. 

Context 
in response to the theme of play and place I make a mini landscape box. My idea was about find the relation between resident and the space where they live. 
In my early memories, the region near the river was a wasteland. during these year, developer s never stop transforming there,but for us (residents), we can’t join this process and decide the landscape near our home. man could effect the environment and landscape, my grandpa could repair the road, making the fence… this behavior would change our dwelling environment. But when in the city, all of the community design and planing everything, resident can not join the process of the transform their living environment. 
In a short interview video, artist Dale Harding(2019) said “If the work doesn’t relate to your family and your community, then what’s the point?’, his opinion was not only for the physical “place”. then it give me a inspiration, I want explore the relation between people and their living Environment through this work.

Method:
1.walking through the river 
2.Take some photos and record what I meet
3.pick up something could use 
4.go to market, bought something I need.(Plasticine,glue and straw) 
5.sorting the materials I need(small twigs, stone, granular soil)
6.Start working with the miniature landscape

Reflection 
In this work, I using some materials come from the park, my home and market.In my original plan, the experience of explore and collect materials can help me know more about this place. Of course, during this experience, I arrive many new place and found some hidden paths. I feel regret of I can’t contact them with my final outcome. Therefore, it was a point I could improve. 
I make a rough mini landscape box, I give up some plan because I did not have enough time to finishing them. When I was working with this mini landscape, I think if I have more time, I could making more things then try more different combinations. But it was also a experience for me, because in the real life, I still need time to making something and effect the environment.
