Chris Evans is famous for his traditional matte paintings in the original star wars trilogy whilst Dylan Cole is best known (in my opinion) for his work on the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The youtube link is a tutorial explaining how one begins a digital matte painting that I tried to follow.
Response:
A Matte painting in Photoshop using various photos.
Reflection:
Matte painting is something that I've never have done before and the initial process is quite easy, but manipulating the photos to match each other is quite tricky and something that I need and love to work on. Generating concepts and scenes through this method is a technique that I wish to improve on but the limited time in class meant that the final piece by the end of the time was rather rough on the edges but I feel it was a good introduction to matte painting.
