Theme: Play and Time
Context:
I was inspired by the video Matt showed us in the first week-Dear Data produced by Giogia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec. Which impressed me is that although they are in different places and they showed us a complete vlog in a split-screen way. After watching this creative video, I found that it is really interesting that my friends and I are living completely different lives in different time zones and different places even though we are at the same time. Thus, I came up with the idea of showing a day of my friends and I in a unique way.
Method:
I organised and draw a timeline in Procreate on iPad.
response:
I still remember that before covid-19, we were free to travel around and experience the life and culture of different countries. To commemorate those good old days, I contacted my friends (some in Germany and some in LA, and so on) to share their life and travel stories with me and put photos on the timeline. For those who I couldn't get in touch with immediately, I looked their social media and found some life photos they shared. To my surprise, we almost filled the entire timeline.
Reflection:
During the production process, I found there are some places can be improved:
-number of participants:
Because I don’t have many friends, some countries were not mentioned. I reflect that the participants can not be limited to someone I know. I can launch this activity on INS and invite strangers from different countries to join in.
-photo:
Some photos were taken years ago, and the information of them were lost. I cannot recognize where and when these photos were taken, so I did not put them in my final project. It's a pity that these good photos have not been shown.
