My work:

Context
Looping objects always feel different and can be comical, haunting, a little scary or even dazzling. And in most of the works I've seen, a dark style with looping images always makes me feel like this video is for mind control! So I have not been very happy to challenge this type of work. But after observation, it turns out that the loop also creates a lot of interesting content.
I really agree with what matt taught us about Repeated Time - Loops in class. Early animators based on loops and a few tricks, paired with the perfect rhythm of the music to keep the audience entertained without getting bored.
The work of WHOOPEE CLUB adjusts the picture very well through the combination of loops and music. Black Thin King by Birdo (2008) has always been one of my favorite series. The character moves under the same shot, and if you look carefully, you can find his movements, the background and the character are kept in the same loop. But with the right music, the loops seem to make more sense, as if they were created for the rhythm.
The image of SheepFilms completes a creative looping gif with a few simple movements. Combining their works, I create a looping 2d animation through a few simple movements, different frame numbers, suitable music and changes in different shots.
Method
At the beginning, after I drew the monsters running and falling, I made them repeat. But my focus was only in seconds and I started to get bored. After I added music and some close-ups, the animation came alive again. This makes I feel the magic of timing and spacing. Then I also tried a rock and lyrical background music in the process of learning to create two different styles of animation.
Response
In response to the theme of Play and Self, I created a short 2D animation (or Gif). This animation repeats the running and wrestling action of a cute and strange little monster. So my work is looping time. I remember Disney animation masters saying that animation is nothing but timing and spacing. In this theme, I also deeply realized that the same action can bring new feelings through different distances and shots! Especially after incorporating the changes in music, monster wrestling and running have become more cute.
Reflection
After experiencing this week's PLAY, I have a better understanding of timing and spacing. For example, when falling, the time required for each frame will cause the monster to move differently. I got the current animation after adding and subtracting multiple comparisons.
I also think that music is one of the very important factors in animation, if it is played silently, then my work will lose 80% of the fun!
Relevant works:
Regarding my animations, most of the movements and music refer to waijiang Kk from the bilibili website. I really wanted to learn when I first saw this animation, and with this week's theme, I got a chance to try it!(https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1354y1L7ph/?spm_id_from=333.788.recommend_more_video.1)
