Theme

In responds to this week's theme play and stillness, I have made a lake simulator.

Context

Stillness is not just the antonym of movement; it is actually the presence of vitality. In this week's work, I understand stillness as a state of peace within people, not just as inanimate objects in life. In this model, I compare the cube to the surface of a lake and the sphere to the wind, rocks and other objects that can make ripples on the lake. This is a metaphor and a play of symbolic. The calm surface of the lake can represent the inner peace of human heart, which is originally calm, but due to the disturbance of external things (sphere), it can make people feel stressed and irritable.

Methods

The whole animation is made by C4D. The main project is to add the displacer effector to the cube. For the ripple part, I added delay and freeze to make it more realistic.

Response

The Final animation is here:

Reflection

AS Lewis, G (2019) argued, whether gardening-type games can provide the same therapeutic effect as in reality. From my own point of view, I think it is possible. For example, in games like 'animal crossing' and 'Stardew Valley', people take care of flowers and plants, feel nature, make friends, etc. in the virtual world to get peace, relax and decompress. This week's project can also be developed in the future as a small game of stress relief.
