Theme: Play and Abstraction

Context:

As I have discussed in class, I tried to abstract a real world system, make it simple and simulated it in game. But I realised this is too hard to make in a week while doing other practice assignments. So I have changed my plan. I want to draw some abstract icons, for example animals. Well I don’t want to just submit some drawings since this is not enough interesting and I don’t think this practice can helps me. So finally I made this game.

The first animal I drew was sheep. I tried to use only 1 line without crossing. The symbol of sheep is its horn. So I made a spiral which shows this is a sheep perfectly. Then I drew elephant and camel as well. After that, I imaged that the line is a rope and it becomes this shape by some obstacles. Then I drew some red circles on my drawing as obstacles. After those work done, I start programming my game. I create a rope by using mesh drawing and some circles with colliders. Then I can drag the rope and draw the shape that I have drawn on paper.

Reflection:

The PLAY of this week is both game programming experimental and abstraction drawing. I enjoy both of them and feel interesting from them.

Abstraction is hard theme since it is real abstract. But I’m happy on thinking of it. I think abstraction is very useful on game development. As I have talked in class, make complex system to sample is one of the usages of abstraction. It helps very much on simulating real world systems.
