Context
For this class, my initial intention is to keep exploring my 3D minimalistic animation techniques that I used for semester 1. Having a different approach than the one taken for Studio 2, my main goal is to continue applying narrative techniques that would suggest different contexts and situations, without complex movements or animations.
Method
Since semester 1, I have been using Cinema 4D for the creation of linear animations. Its positioning within the industry makes C4D one of the most used and supported 3D software right now.
Setting up a dark infinite background, my main goal was to convey a sense of a no man’s place or nowhere. My main idea was to make a non-associable place contrasted by the color of the neon light, which gives the scene a sense of futurism.
The pyramid carries a material which is based on glass with a custom number on chromatic dispersion, which is a physical phenomenon that changes the angle of refraction, producing different colors of the spectrum of light.
The spheres are cloned of a single object and rigid body physics are applied to be able to collide with the pyramid and the ground, which are given a collider body property, which prevents them to be affected by gravity but collide with other objects like rigid or soft bodies.
Response
This short animation is my response, a representation of being in the verge: prepared to shine but self-doubting and thinking about when you are going to fall; and the desire to disappear without being noticed.
