Theme

In response to the theme of "Play and Self", I took a photo series of my own emotions. And I wanted to make it somehow look like the Rocha test for understanding emotions.

Method

I photographed myself reflecting my different emotions. While doing this, I used my memories to strengthen that feeling. Then, I chose the best ones from the dozens of photos I took and finalized them with Photoshop.

Context

This week, our topic in Uyen's class was Self and Play. We learned how to discover ourselves and how to make it fun while doing it. The videos we watched while learning this really had a huge impact. Because we learned how to advance this process better on Uyen's narration and videos. It is very important for artists or designers to observe their surroundings while creating something and reflect this on their art. While doing this, it is necessary to understand the essence of that thing well and to reflect this to your work.
The Rocha test is one that has always intrigued me. The purpose for which this was made and the analysis of one's personality and thoughts from one's interpretation of a picture is truly amazing. Based on the purpose of this test, I prepared what I did. First of all, the photos I took had to reflect my emotions well, so I worked hard on this. Then I had to somehow change these photos because when someone looked at them, they had to understand the emotion behind them based on just what they saw. And it would be really easy to tell if they stayed in their original state. That's why I tried to make the photos look like they were in the rocha test.

Reflection

While doing this, I understood my own feelings much better. Normally you can't see yourself when you experience these feelings, but preparing this gave me this opportunity.
