For this week's theme of Play and Nature, I was initially a bit stumped as I couldn't think of anything to do at first. I then decided to go for a walk and noticed that there are many different kinds of flowers planted on the pathways in my neighborhood.
Flowers are said to be a language on their own. People ascribe different meanings to different flowers, some people even say that each month has a flower, each zodiac has a flower, etc. I thought it would be nice to create something in accordance to the language of flowers.
I decided to make some character designs to explore Play and nature by taking inspiration from the flowers that I found planted in my neighborhood. I did this by sketching out the ideas first and then cleaning them and coloring on Procreate.
I made two character designs using two different flowers that I found. It is said that different flowers invoke different feelings, and I tried to match the energy of the flower with each of these characters.
I didn't do something out of the box for this assignment, and I feel like this was largely because I spent most of the week trying to think of something novel to do, and ended up having to make something in a hurry as I had run out of time. I like what I made, but I am unsure if it fully explored the concept of Play.
The theme of Play and Nature by itself is a very interesting topic for me, and I hope to explore it further in my practice in the future.
