Theme: Play and Body

Context

The first thing that came to mind while thinking of Play and Body are games like Simon Says and "Statue." These are games from my childhood that I had a lot of fun playing.

While most forms of entertainment in today's day and age seem to involve a screen, there still are some games that even adults enjoy playing, from classics like Charades and Pictionary, to more recent examples like this game called "Guesstures" and Pretender. I decided to create a game like this along a similar vein, that requires you to move your body.

Response

A fun group game called "Do What I Say, Not What i Do"

Rules:

  • One player is "It" and stands in front of other Players
  • The Player who is It gives out instructions for an action that the other players have to do, but may do a different action to confuse them. For example saying "Touch your head" while touching your knees.
  • The goal is to not get confused and do what is said
  • The last player remaining is the winner

Reflection

This was a fun game to develop, and it was even more fun testing it out with my family. I feel like the game really has the potential to be a fun party game.

I enjoyed this activity as it took me back to my childhood when I would play these sorts of games with my cousins, and it made me realize how much I rely on screens these days to make something.
