Context:

This week's theme is abstraction, and when I think about it, the first thing that comes to mind is liquids, because they have no concrete shape. The plasticity is very high, so is there a situation where the fluid can be free and random to produce some visual effects? It seems difficult since most liquids are shaped by gravity and the container's reaction is as if the container's shape is the liquid's shape.

My inspiration came from a particular liquid: oil. They float but don't dissolve in water, which makes them ideal for observation, but they also get repulsed by dishwashing liquid or soap, resulting in a kaleidoscopic shape.

Method:

At first, I did some common experiments, such as filling a birdbath and pouring in some cooking oil, but the results were not good. There are two reasons: first, the color of the bridal needs to be white, because it is easy to observe; The second oil dissipates easily and is too light in color to be easily observed and controlled. So I switched to a large white tub in the bathroom and bought brightly colored chili oil.

Then I used a shower gel with a bold color. In the visual aspect, the overall effect is very remarkable.

And the process is actually quite interesting because the oil changes in the water and then the repulsion of the shower gel produces a lot of special effects, very random and abstract.

Reflection:

In the process, I recalled playing a similar game when I was a kid, playing with oil and dishwashing liquid in the kitchen for a long time. The difference is that now I have my own equipment to record the process and no judgment from my mother, but it doesn't make me any less happy. The end result is visually abstract, but the sensual pleasure is real.
